Teen Advisory Intern
I am an intern at Food Equality Initiative because I love the mission of the organization, and I want to learn more about business, marketing and food science. I am very passionate about food allergies because I have struggled with them my entire life. I have Eosinophilic Esophagitis, anaphylactic allergies to fish, and Celiac disease. Over the years, I have had to cut out gluten, dairy, egg, soy, fish, tomatoes, red peppers, peanuts, avocado, bananas and many more foods from my diet to figure out what my body was reacting to. I still have strange reactions to food. I have had to learn how to read every label and do my research. Something as simple as cross-contamination can cause me to get sick. I understand how expensive and hard it can be to find food. Food Equality Initiative provides a safe resource for people to find allergy-friendly food. There are not enough words to describe how important that is. I am happy and thankful to be a part of this organization because it changes people’s lives.
