Kathy Downing holds a Bachelor’s degree in Organismal Biology and Ecology from Wichita State University and a certificate in Justice Ministry Education from Auburn Seminary in New York. Her background is in natural foods retail management.
Her experiences with food allergies began when her young daughter had an adverse reaction to a cashew bar and was subsequently diagnosed with multiple food allergies. She understands the value of ensuring that those impacted by food allergies and sensitivities have access to safe, appropriate foods.
Kathy is interested in creating a socially just, spiritually fulfilling, environmentally sustainable society. To that end, she serves as the Community Liaison for the Kansas City Drawdown Society, working to inform, inspire and empower others to implement community based solutions to reverse global warming. She is committed to reducing both food waste and hunger in the community. She recently began kitchen composting using worm bins.
