Natalie Giorgi Sunshine Foundation Partnership

Food Equality Initiative (FEI) is a nonprofit organization that relies on generous partners to meet our mission of improving health and ending hunger in individuals who must eliminate common foods from their diet to maintain health. We’re pleased to announce a new partnership with the Natalie Giorgi Sunshine Foundation.

You may be familiar with the Natalie Giorgi Sunshine Foundation (NGSF); they have worked tirelessly to improve the lives of individuals living with food allergies. Joanne and Louis Giorgi started this foundation after the tragic death of their daughter, Natalie Giorgi in 2013 to accidental ingestion of peanuts. Their work includes the Natalie Giorgi Sunshine Act (AB1532) in CA that strengthens food handlers’ standards in CA restaurants, an Emmy Award-winning PSA, and the California stock epinephrine bill.

We are inspired by the work that Emily Brown and the Food Equality Initiative are doing to provide assistance to those struggling with food insecurity as well as food allergies. Natalie would be thrilled to know that in her name we are partnering with FEI as they build a direct to client model of food allergy-safe foods that will help families across the nation.
— Joanne and Louis Giorgi, founders of NGSF

Through a new partnership, funding from NGSF will allow FEI to implement a direct-to-client model. FEI will leverage technology to empower patients to order foods online and receive them at their door. The new model will allow FEI to scale services in Kansas City and expand into new communities.

Food insecurity in the food allergy community is an issue that impacts communities across the nation. We’re proud to partner with the Natalie Giorgi Sunshine Foundation to scale our program in Kansas City. The new direct-to-client model will also allow FEI to expand into new communities. What a wonderful way to honor Natalie’s memory!
— Emily Brown, Founder of FEI

FEI graciously thanks the Natalie Giorgi Sunshine Foundation for support. Together we are improving health and ending hunger.
